I feel healthy,
why should I order a test?
A serious medical condition such as heart disease, prostate cancer,
or diabetes can exist without noticeable symptoms for a number
of years. Early detection is your best defense. A simple blood
test can indicate what is happening to assist you in reversal
of potential problem areas, and establish a baseline of your normal
ranges for which future tests can be monitored.
How does a
lab test work?
A laboratory test is a health screening service that can assist
you in determining many things about your health that could possibly
otherwise go undetected. The tests you can order through HS Labs,
Inc. are the same tests ordered by physicians.
Will my insurance
pay for a test?
HS Labs, Inc. does not accept insurance claims. Some insurance
plans will reimburse you if it is written in the plan as a preventive
coverage with no doctor's script. Other insurance plans will reimburse
you if you have a doctors written script. Call your insurance
company number to find out whether they will cover your tests.
Why are these
tests useful?
Consumers are realizing that they need to take control of their
own health, and direct-to-consumer testing programs allow greater
participation in your own healthcare. Knowledge of your blood's
chemistry can provide important information about your general
healthy and specific conditions. A simple blood test can indicate
what is happening before any symptoms of disease occur. A blood
test can reveal abnormalities thus enabling you to take preventive
measures.
Even your test results
are normal, it is useful as this establishes a baseline of normal
ranges against which future tests can be monitored. When you visit
your physician, a history of laboratory reports that you have
kept can often provide the clue to a proper diagnosis.
Should I fast before taking a test?
Yes. It is recommended that you avoid food and liquids for a minimum
of 8 hours. Water or black coffee are permitted during your fast.
Are their any
other fees involved in ordering a test?
Shipping and Handling Charge
The shipping and handling charge of $15.00 is the only additional
fee to your order. The charge goes towards processing of order,
the detailed customization of requisition forms, postage, materials
and draw fee at each site.
Are these tests
accurate?
A fully accredited Medical Reference Laboratory analyzes all test
results.
When will I
receive the results?
Your test results will be sent to you by first class mail on the
business day following your test. Please allow ten business days
to receive your results.
Are the results
confidential?
Absolutely. We respect your privacy and maintain confidentiality.
You are the only one who receives the results unless you specifically
direct us otherwise. Not even your insurance company will obtain
results from HS Labs, Inc. and/or associates.
How do I take
a test?
Simply choose which lab test you wish to take from the list offered,
select the most convenient laboratory location, fill out the client
information profile, and select your method of payment. You will
be sent a personalized requisition form by first class mail to
take to your selected laboratory location. The technician at the
laboratory will draw a small sample of your blood for testing.

be required at the laboratory.
Will I be able
to understand the results?

abnormalities indicated. We recommend you seek a healthcare provider
to discuss results out side normal ranges.

someone if I have questions about my test results? Any
questions regarding abnormal results should be discussed with
your doctor. You may phone or write to HS Labs, Inc. with any
questions about your results.
What do abnormal
test results mean?
Abnormalities should be considered as an early warning signs alerting
you that it is necessary to reverse a condition. To bring your
test values back to within normal ranges, your doctor may suggest
a change in diet, exercise, and nutrition.
Can I take
the results to my doctor for a diagnosis?
Yes . The tests that you order are the same medically accepted
lab tests ordered by physicians, and your doctor will be able
to discuss them with you. Your doctor will use these results in
conjunction with your history and may even decide to order additional
tests to confirm the results of any abnormalities.
