The Complete Blood Work Test includes:
A BLOOD FAT PROFILE ANALYSIS
This test measures fats and fat-like substances in the blood that,
if abnormally high, have been associated with heart disease.
The blood fat profile tests include:
Total Cholesterol Test:
A high total cholesterol level is associated with heart disease.
HDL Cholestorol Test:
High-density lipoprotein or “good” cholesterol”
that protects against heart disease.
LDL cholesterol:
Low-density lipoprotein or “bad” cholesterol that
is associated with atherosclerosis.
Triglycerides: High
levels are associated with heart disease.
GLUCOSE TEST
Glucose (diabetes): This test is primarily used to screen for,
diagnose or monitor patients with diabetes, a metabolic condition
in which blood glucose levels are too high because the body cannot
produce enough insulin in the pancreas. Following a heart attack
or other serious illness, fasting glucose levels will be temporarily
high.
KIDNEY, LIVER & HEART
FUNCTION TESTING
Electrolytes Panel:
A test that measure the amount of potassium, sodium, chloride
and carbon dioxide levels in the blood in order to assess how
well the major organ systems (e.g., the heart and cardiovascular
system) are functioning.
CBC (complete blood count)
A very common test that can provide important information about
the types of blood cells present, their condition, and number
in relation to other cells.
High levels of white blood cells
may indicate a heart attack, infection or an inflammatory disease
such as rheumatoid arthritis.
High levels of red blood cells,
hematocrit (the term for the space taken up by red blood cells)
or hemoglobin (the protein molecule in red blood cells that carry
oxygen) indicate a lack of oxygen in the body. This may be caused
by smoking, congential heart disease (cardiac abnormality, defect
or malformation that is present from birth), dehydration or kidney
disease.
and, lastly,
A Total Thyroid Test (T3,
T4, T7, TSH)
A thyroid test is a blood test that measures the levels of thyroid
hormones in a patient’s bloodstream. Thyroid hormones influence
many functions of the body, such as metabolism, growth and development,
organ function, fertility and body temperature.
Thyroid tests are important tools
to screen for and monitor thyroid disease. Thyroid disease has
been linked to several heart-related conditions if left untreated.
Early diagnosis and close medical management of thyroid disorders
are critical.
