How does a lab test work?
A laboratory test is a health screening service that can assist you in det ermining many things about your health that could possibly otherwise go undetected. The tests you can order through HS Labs, Inc. are the same tests ordered by ph ysicians.

Will my insurance pay for a test?
HS Labs, Inc. does not accept insurance claims. Some insurance plans will reimburse you if it is written in the plan as a preventive coverage with no doctor's script. Other insurance plans will reimburse you if you have a doctors written scr ipt. Call your insurance company number to find out whether they will cover you r tests.

Why are these tests useful?
Consumers are realizing that they need to take control of their own health , and direct-to-consumer testing programs allow greater participation in you r own healthcare. Knowledge of your blood's chemistry can provide important information about your general healthy and specific conditions. A simple blood test ca n indicate what is happening before any symptoms of disease occur. A blood t est can reveal abnormalities thus enabling you to take preventive measures.

Even your test results are normal, it is useful as this establishes a base line of normal ranges against which future tests can be monitored. When you vis it your physician, a history of laboratory reports that you have kept can oft en provide the clue to a proper diagnosis.

Should I fast before taking a test?
Yes. It is recommended that you avoid food and liquids for a minimum of 8 hours. Water or black coffee are permitted during your fast.

Are their any other fees involved in ordering a test?
Shipping and Handling Charge
The shipping and handling charge of $15.00 is the only additional fee to y our order. The charge goes towards processing of order, the detailed customiza tion of requisition forms, postage, materials and draw fee at each site.

A fully accredited Medical Reference Laboratory analyzes all test results.

When will I receive the results?
Your test results will be sent to you by first class mail on the business day following your test. Please allow ten business days to receive your result s.

Are the results confidential?
Absolutely. We respect your privacy and maintain confidentiality. You are the only one who receives the results unless you specifically direct us otherw ise. Not even your insurance company will obtain results from HS Labs, Inc. and /or associates.

How do I take a test?
Simply choose which lab test you wish to take from the list offered, selec t the most convenient laboratory location, fill out the client information p rofile, and select your method of payment. You will be sent a personalized requisi tion form by first class mail to take to your selected laboratory location. The technician at the laboratory will draw a small sample of your blood for testing. As y ou have prepaid for this service, no further payment will be required at the laboratory.

Will I be able to understand the results?
Yes. All test results include the normal reference ranges, and abnormaliti es indicated. We recommend you seek a healthcare provider to discuss results out side normal ranges.

How can I contact someone if I have questions about my test result s?
Any questions regarding abnormal results should be discussed with your doc tor. You may phone or write to HS Labs, Inc. with any questions about your resu lts.

What do abnormal test results mean?
Abnormalities should be considered as an early warning signs alerting you that it is necessary to reverse a condition. To bring your test values back to within normal ranges, your doctor may suggest a change in diet, exercise, and nut rition.

Can I take the results to my doctor for a diagnosis?
Yes . The tests that you order are the same medically accepted lab tests o rdered by physicians, and your doctor will be able to discuss them with you. Your doctor will use these results in conjunction with your history and may even decid e to order additional tests to confirm the results of any abnormalities.
